The Euphoria of 18th MIS SA CUP 2023 Has Finally Ended

The biggest sporting event which was organized by Manado Independent School (MIS) through the 18th MIS SA CUP 2023 officially ended successfully on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. The event, which has been going on for a week, presents various sports and musical activities such as basketball, volleyball, futsal, lawn tennis, swimming, band, dance, and singing competitions. Basically, the participants of this event were exclusively students representing their own schools in North Sulawesi.

The students’ enthusiasm in participating in this event was evident when they impressively competed with enthusiasm and the spirit of sportsmanship. To complement and make the program more alluring and refreshing to all, MIS Cup organizers provide interesting entertainments like band music, food and beverages from each booth surrounding the soccer field. These made the guests, visitors, and participants feel more comfortable throughout the event.

Well, the opening ceremony was very special. It was blessed with the presence of the following prominent people: Vice Governor of North Sulawesi Mr. Steven Kandou, Mayor of Manado Mr. Andrei Angouw accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Irene Pinontoan, Vice Regent of North Minahasa Mr. Kevin Lotulung accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Kristi Arina, and the General Secretary of Indonesian Basketball at North Sulawesi, Mr. Fernando Wuwungan.

In his remark, Matthew Nasry, as the chief executive of the 18th MIS SA CUP 2023 and the Students’ Association president, expressed his gratitude to God for the success of this event. “It is amazing that the number of participants has continued to increase each year. My sincere thanks to all the guests, participants, and spectators for your cooperation and participation. However, the MIS Cup 2023 was successful because of God’s grace and blessings. Besides, I am thankful for the help of all parties present— the MIS Administrators, the crews, the sports teachers, and even the government officials who spent their valuable time and effort to support this event.” Matthew said.

Then, the closing ceremony was highlighted with the awarding of prizes (cash, medals, and trophies), fireworks display, remarks, and a celebration accompanied with a famous band in Manado. By God’s grace, the home team—MIS Warriors garnered the following awards: Volleyball High School Girls Champion, Basketball Middle School Boys Champion, Basketball Middle School Girls Champion, Basketball Elementary School Girls Champion, Basketball Elementary School Boys Champion, Runner– up Basketball High School Girls, Runner – up Lawn Tennis Middle and High School Girls and Boys U-17, and Runner – up Swimming Boys and Girls U17 and U18.
