MIS SA Cup Day 2: A Celebration of Sportsmanship and Culture

The first day of the MIS SA Cup, held on February 17, 2025, was packed with thrilling matches and unforgettable victories for MIS teams. The morning results and upcoming schedule were eagerly anticipated, highlighting the school’s achievements. Among the winners were:

  • Basketball: MIS Middle School Girls Team (Phoenix), MIS Elementary School Boys Team (Tiger), MIS High School Team C
  • Volleyball: MIS Middle School Girls Team
  • Tennis: Isla Santiago from MIS Elementary School

The players’ dedication and teamwork were evident throughout the games, setting a powerful tone for the rest of the tournament.

Day 2, held on February 18, 2025, brought even more excitement, offering a vibrant mix of sportsmanship and cultural festivities. One of the standout moments was the mesmerizing barongsai (lion dance) performance, which filled the atmosphere with joy and laughter. The energetic movements and colorful display of the lion dancers captivated students, teachers, and guests alike, making it a truly unforgettable experience.

The day also brought additional impressive results from various sports, including:

  • Futsal: MIS Elementary School Boys Team B, MIS High School Boys Team A
  • Tennis: L’vharmi Malive from MIS Middle School
  • Basketball: MIS Middle School Boys Team

Isla Santiago, a Grade 6 tennis player from MIS, expressed her gratitude, stating, “I thank God for this opportunity to showcase and develop my tennis skills. I’ve loved playing tennis since I was little, and I’m glad to represent my school.”

The event wasn’t just about sports—it was also a celebration of community, with a variety of food and drinks available to keep attendees energized. Snacks, street food, juices, and milk tea were among the popular items, boosting the spirits of fans as they cheered for their teams. Goodyvern Maringka and Mark Maalangen, Grade 7 students, shared their excitement: “The food here has kept us energized! The MIS Cup has been the most fun event I’ve ever attended.” The diversity of participating schools added richness to the event, offering a wealth of experiences, strategies, and learning opportunities for everyone involved.
