On April 11, 2025, the Manado Independent School family took a refreshing step away from the usual classroom and office routines to embrace a day of joy, renewal, and meaningful connection at the serene Tuturuga Beach. The annual Teachers and Staff Excursions proved to be more than just a well-deserved break—it was a time to recharge spiritually and reconnect genuinely.
The day began on an uplifting note with a heartfelt worship service led by Pastor Jonathan Lumingkewas, M.Div., centered around the inspiring theme: “Renew, Recharge, Reconnect.” Under the warmth of the sun and the soothing sound of ocean waves, staff members were reminded of the importance of pausing to realign with their purpose and reconnect with one another. The message resonated deeply, affirming that although we come from different backgrounds and hold various roles, we are united by a shared mission: to provide excellent service to our students.
Adding to the significance of the day was the presence of our beloved director, Mr. Billy D. Kumolontang, MBA, whose support and leadership exemplify the heart of MIS. This year’s venue—Tuturuga Beach—was a thoughtful choice by the event committee. A place symbolizing peace, clarity, and freedom, it set the perfect stage for a day filled with joy and camaraderie.
As the sun rose higher and laughter echoed along the shore, the fun truly began. Staff were divided into four vibrant, color-coded teams, all fueled by a spirit of friendly competition and togetherness. The games were creatively designed and expertly organized to blend fun with challenge and collaboration. From the adrenaline-pumping “Time Bomb” and “Water Blow” to the tricky “Ball Challenge,” each activity tested not only physical agility but also communication, teamwork, and trust. We pulled, pushed, tumbled—and laughed—supporting one another every step of the way. Mental agility was also put to the test in a lively quiz segment that challenged how well we truly knew our colleagues, from full names to job titles. One of the most exciting moments was the lucky draw, with cheers and applause erupting as names were called and prizes won. The day concluded with a classic tug-of-war, a powerful symbol of unity, strength, and the collective effort we embody every day at MIS.
