MIS Wins 1st Place at TEMU Fisika

On October 31, 2024, Manado Independent School (MIS) student Tristan Benedict Kandou secured 1st Place in the Physics Olympiad organized by Manado State University (UNIMA) as part of their annual event, TEMU Fisika. Known for his intelligence and passion for science, particularly in physics, Tristan represented MIS in this prestigious competition.

TEMU Fisika 2024 featured a range of activities that tested not only theoretical knowledge but also practical physics skills. With the theme “Engaging New Exploration, Realizing Great Yields” (ENERGY), the competition challenged participants to answer complex questions quickly and accurately. Tristan, with his deep understanding of physics, performed exceptionally, successfully solving various advanced problems.

His victory highlighted his ability to think critically and respond under pressure—key traits for success in the fields of science and research. Reflecting on the experience, Tristan shared: “For me, winning or losing is just part of the journey, but it’s the process that really helps me grow academically and prepare for the future. Preparing for competitions like this pushes me to learn far beyond the regular curriculum. I have to think critically, push myself, and stay focused, which improves my study habits.”

Beyond expanding his scientific knowledge, Tristan’s participation enhanced his problem-solving and critical thinking skills. He also had the opportunity to connect with like-minded peers, building a network of students with similar interests. “The time and effort I invested made me a stronger student. I learned to approach problems more effectively, manage my time, and stay motivated. The growth from this process has prepared me academically and professionally,” Tristan added, expressing hope that his journey would inspire other students to explore their potential.

MIS is immensely proud of Tristan’s achievements. The school remains committed to supporting outstanding students by providing the resources and opportunities they need to excel in prestigious events. Through programs like TEMU Fisika, MIS hopes to continue fostering young talent like Tristan, empowering them to make a positive impact on science and technology through exploratory and innovative endeavors
