MIS is celebrating a remarkable achievement as both the Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball Teams claimed first place at the prestigious SMANSA Cup 2024. This victory not only underscores the extraordinary skill and determination of the student-athletes but also brings immense pride to the entire MIS community, including school staff, parents, and fellow students. Throughout the tournament, both teams demonstrated exceptional performances, combining sportsmanship with tactical brilliance on the court. Each match was intense and pushed the players to their limits, but they rose to the challenge time and again.
Led by captains Timothy Tulenan and Paula, the men’s and women’s teams grew stronger and more united. Timothy, captain of the boys’ team, expressed his gratitude, saying, “I feel grateful that we were able to win the match. Thanks to God because we know we’re not alone; we always believe that God is with us. We win for His glory.” His sentiments echoed the deeper significance of the victory, one that extended beyond the court.
The sense of accomplishment resonated throughout the MIS community, with parents and staff filled with pride as they witnessed the dedication and hard work that led to the team’s triumph. Reflecting on their practice sessions, Timothy added, “Our training was tough but enjoyable. We knew that putting in extra effort would prepare us for whatever challenges came our way. We always believed that our hard work would pay off based on how much we put into it.”
The success of the teams was further bolstered by the unwavering commitment of their coaches: Coach Michael Pangkey, Coach Katlen Elsira Roring, and Coach Gregoryo Terok. These coaches tirelessly trained and believed in each player. “This wasn’t the first win for MIS Basketball,” the coaches remarked, “but at the SMANSA Cup, we were especially proud of the players for giving more than 100% and improving upon their past performances. This victory was a result of the hard work and collaboration between the players and coaches. Moving forward, we aim to continue improving and striving for even greater achievements in the future.”
The teams’ success not only elevated the reputation of the MIS sports program but also set a high standard for future teams. The effort, precision, and focus exhibited in each game were evident, but the victory was a collective one. From the reserve players who provided crucial support to the coaches and enthusiastic supporters, this win showcased the unity and resilience of the entire team. This remarkable achievement serves as a reminder that both prayer and hard work—in academics and extracurricular activities—yield rewarding results. Congratulations to the MIS Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball Teams for their well-deserved victories at the SMANSA Cup 2024!
