Successful Completion of MIS PEC 2024 Program

Manado Independent School (MIS) celebrates the successful conclusion of the Preparatory English Course (PEC) for new and returning students in the 2024-2025 academic year, held from June 24 to July 5, 2024. PEC Coordinator Petra Th. Norimarna, M.Ed., emphasized that the course is designed to familiarize new students with English as the primary medium of instruction.

“The main goal of PEC is to help students become comfortable with English and prepare them for regular classes,” Petra explained. “We were impressed by the progress, especially considering the program’s duration of just two weeks.” The PEC consists of four levels: Early Childhood Program (ECP), Grades 1-6, Grade 7, and Grades 10-12, with each level featuring a 10-day course covering Grammar, Writing, Reading, and Speaking & Listening.

On July 4, students showcased their talents during the PEC Performance Day, demonstrating their learning through songs, dances, poetry recitations, speech choirs, and short plays.

New student Seivenaya NJ shared his enthusiasm, stating, “I’m happy to have many friends. The teachers helped me understand English better. Learning at MIS is enjoyable, and we’re trained to understand the school’s vision and mission.”

Parent Alvianus Saleppang expressed gratitude for the PEC program: “Thank you to the school board, management, and teachers for their exceptional efforts. This initiative has significantly improved my son’s English skills and built his confidence. The dedication and innovative teaching methods have made a lasting impact on his academic journey.”

At the PEC Recognition Day on July 5, students received certificates and reports on their learning outcomes. The program not only focused on developing English language skills but also enriched students’ understanding of English-speaking cultures.

Petra concluded, “On behalf of the school management, teachers, and staff, I extend my gratitude to all parents for entrusting their children to MIS. By enrolling them in the PEC program, you’ve taken an important step in partnering with us for their education. May this partnership last throughout their lifelong learning journey at Manado Independent School.”
