A Heartwarming Ceremony Marks Milestone for MIS Graduates

Manado Independent School (MIS) recently held a heartwarming and joyful graduation ceremony to celebrate the achievements of its graduating classes. The two-day event, held on Tuesday, June 18th, and Wednesday, June 19th, 2024, at the MIS Auditorium, honored students from Kinder 2, 6th grade, and 9th grade, culminating with a special ceremony for the 12th graders.

Path Searcher: A Journey of Growth

Themed “Path Searcher” with the motto “Hard Work: A Cascade of Success,” the graduation transcended a mere academic celebration. It highlighted each student’s unique journey towards their dreams. David Neil Butcher, MEd, principal of the British School Jakarta, delivered an inspiring keynote address:

“I salute the Class of 2024. Standing before you today, knowing you have the unwavering support of your school, faculty, and families as you step into the future, is an honor. Congratulations and best wishes!”

Celebrating Dedication and Perseverance

Dr. Joppi Rondonuwu, Ph.D., echoed the sentiment on behalf of the school, expressing his immense pride in the graduates’ dedication and perseverance:

“Today, we applaud the remarkable achievements of our graduates. Congratulations to each and every one of you; your accomplishments fill us with immense pride. We are eager to witness the paths you will forge. May God continue to guide you all.”

A Moment of Triumph

The highlight of the ceremony arrived as each student confidently walked across the stage to receive their diploma. The auditorium erupted in cheers and applause, celebrating not just academic achievements but also non-academic successes at district, provincial, national, and even international levels. These accomplishments served as a powerful testament to the unwavering dedication of MIS students throughout their academic journey. Michiko Limanauw, MIS Valedictorian of the Middle School, expressed her heartfelt gratitude during the Valedictorian Address:

“To God, parents, teachers, and friends who have supported, advised, and encouraged us—thank you. As we move forward, let’s carry with us the lessons learned and friendships forged, determined to make our world a better place. Congratulations to the Class of 2024!”

Community, Character, and Congratulations

The ceremony was further graced by the presence of Manado’s Mayor, Andrei Angouw, accompanied by his wife, Irene Pinontoan, who were there to celebrate their child’s graduation from 12th grade at MIS. Mayor Angouw conveyed a heartfelt message on behalf of all parents:

“Graduates, remember to uphold good character and face challenges with unwavering determination. Wishing you all the very best in your future endeavors. Congratulations!”

A Memorable Farewell

The ceremony concluded with a farewell song, composed and performed by the graduating class, followed by the presentation of school awards and expressions of gratitude to all MIS teachers. Finally, students, teachers, and parents gathered for a group photo, capturing a cherished moment of celebration. Overall, the MIS 2024 graduation ceremony served as a powerful testament to the importance of hard work, perseverance, and unwavering community support.
