The beautiful performance presented by the students of Manado Independent School (MIS) through the 20th Musical Concert and 8th Art Exhibition was successfully held with high audience interest. The auditorium was filled with hundreds of people who came to enjoy the two-day event, held on Wednesday, November 22 and Thursday, November 23 2023.
The theme of the event, “Chords of Peace” was chosen to promote peace and happiness in the face of global challenges such as wars, natural disasters, and racial tensions. “The aim of the event is to raise funds to help nursing homes, orphanages, communities around MIS, help orphans and people in need,” said Vijay Kollabathula, Ph.D., the principal of high school department. “Last year, MIS was able to collect 152 million rupiah and then distribute goods and food staples. So, this year the charity concert will also be used to help several orphanages such as the Terang Titipan Dewa Foundation Manado, Dorkas Tondano Orphanage, Suara Kasih Bitung Orphanage, Darul Istiqomah Manado Orphanage, and people in need who live in the school area.”
The charity concert was also an opportunity for students to present what they had learned during the semester in front of parents and the audience. “This event is also an opportunity for students to show off their talents and learn to raise funds for noble causes,” Vijay added.
The 20th Musical Concert and 8th Art Exhibition did not disappoint the audience. The lively and cool performances from MIS student musicians under the auspices of the MIS Music and Art Department kept the audience entertained for hours. They were treated to a variety of music genres, including old school, traditional, classical, modern, and millennial music. The energy in the auditorium was electric as the students sang and danced their hearts out.
The audience was also amazed by the marching band and dance performances. The adorable and funny ballet and glee dance performances were a particular highlight, bringing smiles to the faces of everyone in attendance.
In addition to the musical performances, the event also featured an art exhibition showcasing the works of MIS students. Dozens of paintings and handicrafts were on display, ranging from acrylic on canvas paintings to intricate handicrafts. The variety of styles and colors on display were truly impressive.
