Manado Independent School (MIS) Health Club, through the MIS Red Cross community, successfully held a blood donation event in collaboration with the Red Cross (PMI) of North Minahasa Regency on October 9, 2023, at the MIS Clinic. The event began at 11:30 AM and ended when the last donor finished.
The blood donation activity is one of the MIS Health Club’s work programs to help and increase care for others and introduce the Red Cross organization. Thirty-two donors from teachers, employees, and students participated in the blood donation activity.
Theresya Bongkirwan, President of the Health Club, said the purpose of the blood donation program is to raise awareness that blood donating is life-saving and also healthy for the donors themselves. “As the president of the Red Cross class, I hope that by this program, people will be more inspired and will look forward to making more life-saving programs like this blood donating program. Not only this year, I hope this program will be done annually by the health club and will be part of an annual program.”
Theresya, with a happy face, expressed her gratitude for the well-organized blood donation event: “I would like to thank the Health Club of MIS for giving me this opportunity to start a lifesaving program and also for supporting in making this blood donating program a successful one. A big thanks to the PMI for coming from North Minahasa for helping us in our blood donation program, we would not have done it without the PMI. Let’s not forget the participants and donors who are willing to donate their own blood, we really thank you for your participation.”
