Taking a break from their busy work schedules, Manado Independent School (MIS) held an Employees’ Retreat on October 2-3, 2023. The event, entitled “Aligned in Purpose, United in Strength,” was held at two different locations: the Mercure Tateli Hotel for ECP and Elementary, and Middle School teachers, the Admissions and Finance Department, and the GA Staff Department. However, the High School teachers went to the Grand Master Hotel in Tomohon.
The purpose of the retreat was to show appreciation to MIS employees for their hard work and loyalty, to provide an opportunity for them to socialize outside of work and build relationships, and to help reduce work stress and foster work ethic, productivity, and enthusiasm. The retreat also aimed to help employees provide the best possible service to students and their parents.
This program was filled with interesting activities that provided an extraordinary experience for participants. Jocelyn Madroñal, MAEd, an elementary school teacher who attended the retreat, shared her experience: “I had a chance to have a break from my regular work routine and forget the pressure of daily classroom work. It provided a sense of refreshment from beyond the classroom setting and a chance to recharge and rejuvenate myself.”
Jocelyn also said that the program had numerous activities that gave teachers the opportunity to showcase their hidden talents. These activities promoted bonding and team spirit, as participants gave their best to win each game. She particularly enjoyed the communication game, where participants had to relay a message to their team through action. She said that the game sparked creativity and trust among team members.
Jocelyn thanked MIS for the wonderful experience: “It was a great opportunity for us to learn more about one another, build a sense of camaraderie and rapport among colleagues, and relax and focus on self-care and restoring our work-life balance.”
At the end of the day, the smiles on everyone’s faces were brighter than ever. A day of outdoor games, laughter, and heartwarming community spirit will be etched in their memories for years to come.
