Students from Manado Independent School (MIS) have consistently achieved outstanding results in national and international competitions.
Kayla Kandou, a 9th grader, won a silver medal in the illustration category at the FLS2N competition on August 14-19, 2023. Moreover, three 7th graders, Nadyenka Awaloei, Evann Batara, and Merrilynn Tandow, won a gold medal in the team debate, a silver medal in the team bowl, and a silver medal in the team writing category at the World Scholar’s Cup held in Bangkok, Thailand on August 27-29, 2023. They also qualified for the next competition at Yale University in November, this year.
Robert Liester, a 6th grader, won a bronze medal in the mathematics category at the National Science Olympiad (OSN) held on August 29-30, 2023. In this competition, Robert represented North Sulawesi Province. Although he did not expect to win, he was grateful and happy with his achievement. He acknowledged that his success was due to the support of his family and MIS, and a blessing from God.
The principal of ECP and Elementary School, Petra Th. Norimarna, M.Ed., is proud of the student’s accomplishment. She congratulated Robert and thanked his parents and teachers, especially Mr. Chahyo Sugianto, S.T. for the support given. She also said that his success is an inspiration for other MIS students to continue working hard and achieve their goals.
The success of MIS students in prestigious national and international competitions is a testament to the school’s commitment to excellence. MIS provides its students with a rigorous academic program and a supportive environment that fosters creativity and innovation.
