The Highlights of the Phenomenal Opening Ceremony of the 18th MIS SA CUP 2023

Manado Independent School (MIS) officially opened the 18th MIS SA CUP, 2023 on Wednesday, May 10 at 3:00 PM at the school’s soccer field. As expected, the opening ceremony was spectacular. It was a combination of sports and cultural arts presentation. Vijaya Kollabathula, Ph.D, Principal of MIS High School, said that the main objective of MIS CUP is to help students to develop their leadership skills. Besides, it can build and strengthen relationships between MIS and the schools throughout North Sulawesi.

The program became special because of the presence of the Vice Governor of North Sulawesi, Drs. Steven Kandouw, as the guest speaker. According to him, “MIS is one of the leading educational institutions in North Sulawesi. I was able to attend several times at the opening of the MIS CUP and I always take it as a privilege to be invited to such a program. I always have a great time. My simple advice to all participants is to create a safe atmosphere during the competition by upholding the spirit of sportsmanship. May God bless you all.” After his speech, Mr. Kandouw led the lighting of the torch, signifying the official commencement of this sports tournament.

The opening ceremony was highlighted with diverse, interesting presentations from MIS students such as band performances, dance numbers and competition, and the most electrifying of all was the “Waka- Waka Dance” from the Glee Class. The spectators were so excited and delighted with the ceremony amidst the hotness of the weather. However, they were refreshed and complemented by the food and beverages that are being sold in the booths surrounding the venue.

This program was attended by many guests and spectators. Among them were the Vice Regent of North Minahasa Region, Kevin Lotulung and the General Secretary of North Sulawesi Perbasi, Fernando Wuwungan. After the opening ceremony, some exciting sports match-ups had commenced. May this program be successful by God’s grace and become an inspiration and a blessing to all participants especially the host, the athletes, and the organizers of this event.
