Student Association Officers Inaugurated for School Year 2022-2023

The newly elected Student Association (SA) officers of Manado Independent School (MIS) were officially sworn in by the Vice Principal for Student Affairs of each respective section- elementary, middle, and high schools. Students, administrators, and teachers filled the school auditorium to watch the proceedings. Each SA officer pledged their commitment to their assigned office.

There was a candlelight ceremony and a turnover of the Key of Responsibility. It was a solemn moment for the incoming and outgoing officers. Senior SA officers also presented their achievements through the reports of their successful activities during their tenure.

The SA officers from each section have a vision, mission, and goal placed. Nichole Junus, the new elementary SA president, and her party members chose the name Infinity to emphasize their desire to help and create lasting memories for students throughout their primary life. They aim to assist the academic and social needs of the students and model a positive learning attitude at school.

Atlas is the party name of the newly inducted middle school SA officers. This group of student leaders intends to be the map and compass that guides students on their journey to excellence, hence the name Atlas. This team is determined to create an environment full of opportunities for students to discover their potential. Atlas is committed to developing a relationship with students that motivates them to meet their goals while having a strong relationship with God. Keisha Limunaandar, a grade 8 model student, is the president of this team.

Concurrently, the newly elected high school SA officers, headed by Matthew Nasry, were inducted as well. Verity is the ability to bring comfort through trust and truth, hence the name chosen for the party. They envision establishing a sense of unity within a community, valuing every unique aspect of each individual. Their mission statement is serving others through truth and trust and building a comfortable environment. Verity’s noble goal is to discover and hone the potential of each student by creating a trust-based relationship with God. Their motto states as follows: Consolatio per fiducia-Comfort through Trust.

When asked why she ran for SA president in middle school, Keishia Limmunandar replied, “I believe I could make a positive impact in MIS middle school.” She continued saying that her goal in life is to get better results through patience and organization. She admitted that she knew it would not happen overnight and would take a lot of time and effort for her part. Notwithstanding the challenges of being a student leader, Keishia aspires to learn new things and improve her leadership skills. She strongly believes that this role will be an invaluable help in the future. She pointed out, “Being a student leader of this organization, I will learn how to

cooperate with other people better, be more responsible, and be committed to everything I do. It also teaches me how to make the right decisions. In my opinion, what is meaningful is the fact that I want students to shine in their unique way. I will do my part to ensure that all of them get the chance to show themselves their capabilities. And I trust I am apt for the work.”

Keishia and her team promised to be trustworthy and reliable figures for middle school students. They are determined and willing to support the students with challenges at school. “We should also earn their respect by delivering excellent service and keeping our promises. Set a positive example as role models for students so they can become the most effective versions of themselves in the future,” Keisha concluded. MIS is delighted with the election of this current set of SA officers. The school hopes its vision and mission will produce more disciplined, accomplished, creative, innovative, and character-driven individuals. Prayers for you all, student leaders!
