In addition, Megan Sumual (Grade 9) has been crowned as “Miss Teen 2023” for North Sulawesi. Her family and friends and the entire MIS community commend her for winning the crown. Being the winner gives her happiness and wonderful, memorable experiences.

Although, Megan confessed that her participation in this beauty pageant is just out of curiosity. She narrated, “I am the first one in my family to join a beauty pageant. I am curious to know what it feels like and what lessons I could get from it.” According to her, she was grateful because God has given her the opportunity, and the victory. Leadership, communication skills, fluency in answering interviews, and poise are basically the things that she learned from joining the competition. Besides, according to Megan, “Beauty pageantry can open great opportunities for me.”

Winning the competition entails great responsibilities for Megan. She needs to be an exemplar of good deeds. There are various programs that she needs to focus on and participate such as charity work, awareness and campaigns of some issues, and promoting local cultures, especially in North Sulawesi. She needs to make a difference and give a positive influence on all especially the young people around her.

Megan acknowledged MIS for giving her this opportunity and supporting her in this event. She appreciates and thanks the school for allowing students to develop both academics and non-academics. Through this, students can learn important lessons and skills that are essential for real-life situations.

Meanwhile, Manado Independent School is truly proud of its students’ achievements. The school aspires to give the best education possible along with support in all the areas the students should develop. Of course, the success of the school programs is a collaborative effort of the school, the students, and the parents. Therefore, the school acknowledges the crucial role the parents play in molding and shaping the character as well as the future career of the students. Without their support, MIS students would not be able to achieve great things.

Above all, the school believes that God is behind all the true successes the school has attained. He, alone, is worthy of all the praises and honor. May God continue to bless MIS and all its programs along with all the stakeholders.
