The Celebration to welcome Christmas and New Year at Manado Independent School (MIS) was held on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at the auditorium. As expected, it brought joy and happiness to all attendees because it was held in face to face mode after a couple of years due to the pandemic of COVID 19. Everyone has shown great excitement participating in this memorable event.
The program commenced with a worship led by the Mawar Sharon Church Worship Team and the message was shared by Pst. Frenky Pahibe. The essence of the sermon was that there is no gift greater than Jesus. He is the perfect gift in our lives sent by the Heavenly Father to save us from the condemnation of sin so that we may inherit eternal life through Him. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” This is the true meaning of Christmas.
The second part of the program was about special renditions, competition, and awarding of winners. The first performance was presented by the gifted music teachers and the second one by our ardent administrators. Subsequently, the electrifying “Sing and Dance” competition was held which was participated with enthusiasm by all departments. Lastly, the awards for Sing and Dance, Futsal, and Badminton were announced and given respectively.
Moreover, to complement the celebration, door prizes were drawn with thrill. The school prepared fabulous and lavish prizes for the lucky winners. It started from Rp. 100,000 (30 people); Rp. 150,000 (30 people); Rp. 200,000 (30 people); Rp. 250,000 (8 people); Rp. 500,000 (16 people); Rp. 1,000,000 (5 people); Rp. 1,500,000 (3 people); Rp. 2,000,000 (2 people); and Rp. 2,500,000 (2 people). Then, it was followed by household goods and appliances. Notwithstanding, the most breathtaking prizes were 4 bicycles, 2 Televisions (42 and 50 inches), and 3 motorbikes.
Everyone was hoping to be drawn as the lucky winners especially for the major prizes, but unfortunately, not all will receive. Although some numbers were not drawn luckily, no one went home empty handed. The generous school management, headed by the director Mr. Billy D. Kumulontang, gave out consolation prizes such as one dozen beverages and one tray of chicken eggs per employee.
This annual celebration depicts the school’s unity in invariably giving thanks to our God, Almighty for His endless blessings to our dear institution. Furthermore, it is a perpetual reminder of the great sacrificial love of Jesus to all mankind that everyone will cherish the gift of salvation he offers to all who are willing to accept it.
